I am really excited to share this, I’ve been offered the chance to be a guest CT for Danielle Young Designs. My friend, Julie, is on her CT and she said that Danielle was looking for people to fill in on her team for a bit. She was calling it “Bring a Friend to Play” — so I get to play.

She and her team have a team blog where they offer up challenges each week and I get to participate on that too. I haven’t gotten a chance to play with her designs before, but I have a whole bunch of products in my wishlist from Oscraps.com that says I’ve been wanting too. Anyway, thanks for letting me toot!! As soon as I have some pages created, you know I will be sharing.

This summer is really flying by. The kids have been out of school now for over 2 months and have been really enjoying the free time. Still not sure where we will be when school starts, but I have a feeling that we will still be in Nebraska. I have all our school books ready, will just need to start going through the lesson plans and figuring out what school supplies we will need. It’s interesting being a homeschool family as we don’t need a school supply list per se, it’s just what we might happen to be out of. Usually it’s glue sticks, we go through those like crazy. This year all four of my kiddos will be in school. Jorja will be in kindergarten, Cauner will be a 5th grader, Jayson an 8th grader, and Quisha will be a sophomore.

At this point, we can’t really commit to our co-op. We will participate, but I don’t know if the kids will be doing all the classes provided. One I am really excited about, but we won’t be here all year to take it — is economics. I think I am going to buy the books anyway and work on it with Jayson and Quisha even once we move. Especially Quisha since it is a class she needs to take anyway. I also need to call the lady in charge of the homeschool group where we are moving. They recently changed leadership and I keep forgetting to call her, I have a few question about their co-op as it is bigger. I need to write a note on my board to call her this week.

By August, both the kids and I are bored and definitely ready for school to start and get back into a more structured routine. It’s funny cause, around that time is when I hear other moms get excited about shipping their kids off to school. It feels odd for me to hear that now, I used to be the same way — I couldn’t wait for them to go back to school. Now I am their teacher and my excitement comes from being able to teach them. It’s funny how life changes you. Is it August yet?

Who doesn’t love a good sale? Kristen is having a Christmas in July sale going on at Serendipity Scrapbooks. Everything is on sale and Kristen is going to pick 5 random orders, go shopping in their wishlists and send them $30 worth of stuff from their wishlists. I better get myself in the shop.

And speaking of Serendipity, it’s that time again. Kristen is looking for 7 designers to fill her design team. She is one of the neatest ladies I have ever had a chance to work with. I myself entered again, even if I don’t make it, I wanted to try again. Cause like a friend recently told me, “You have to be in it to win it!!” You can check out the details for the call here.

This weekend the kids and I (along with my sister and nieces) enjoyed John C. Fremont days. For the past 22 years our town has held a three day event to celebrate times of old. They have people dressed in clothes from the 1800s with tents all around and reenactments too. On Friday, the kids and I went to the petting zoo that was put on by the local 4-H.

A mama goat trying to keep cool in the day, it got up to 94 this day.

Jorja really liked the baby horse, but he wouldn’t go near anyone.

So instead, she settled for feeding the mama horse.

Jayson decided he wanted to pet this llama, but he wouldn’t come very close to him.

The petting zoo was kind of small, but the kids enjoyed seeing the animals. The next day, Jess and I met up at the Wild West show and then walked around the rest of the day together. It was nice spending time with my sister. :D

Before the show began, one of the cowboys posed for me — isn’t he cute. ;)

During the show, one of the cowboys asked for a volunteer. Lily got to go up. He was showing how they can rope horses around the neck if need be. This shot was perfect since I caught it right as the rope landed on their necks.

Group shot — left to right: Jayson, Jorja, Lily, Alexis, Quisha and Cauner — back row: Jess and me. :D

On Sunday the kids and I attended the parade, but I haven’t gotten a chance to go through those photos since I let Quisha take pictures and she got over 25 of the parade — mostly of the “cool” cars. Ah teenagers.

Just wanted to post some of the most recent digi LOs I’ve created. I bought a grab bag from Kim Higueria and she had this fun 4th of July Quickpage (QP), so I whipped up a page with it.

Awhile back I found this really fun nature kit from Flergs and knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use with it.

Isn’t that mantis pretty cool?

At Serendipity, Ellen challenged us to scraplift a page from one of the Blog Party participants. I knew exactly what page I wanted to lift. This fun page by Chelle Smith.

And here is my lift:

Thanks for taking a peek. Now I am off to load them in the galleries.

Yesterday, my oldest turned fifteen. Wow, where has the time gone? As each year passes I can’t get over how beautiful Quisha is becoming. She truly is a blessing in my life and I seriously cannot imagine my life without her now. As some of you may know we are in the midst of a pretty ugly custody suit with Carl’s ex wife. We are wanting to move to Kentucky and she is fighting us. This case has been going on since February and we are hoping it will be ending soon. I can’t really go into much detail as this is a public blog and I just don’t feel comfortable sharing that much of what is going with our case. Once it is all said and I done, I will be happy to share. For those who know me privately, they know the majority of the details. Let’s just say that through this all, I have really drawn closer to the Father for guidance, reassurance, wisdom and comfort. He is my strength right now when my life feels like it is in utter chaos. I was challenged to blog about someone special in my life and I immediatly knew I was going to blog about Quisha. She really has become a very special part of my life and losing her would just break my heart.

Recently we went to the lakes with the youth group from next door to our house. We had a great time and of course, I had my camera. :) So I hope you will let me share some pictures from the past few days. I also have pictures from yesterday. We took Quisha and some of her friends to the pool. It was a nice way to spend a birthday.

Jorja was a little scared at first, but she quickly got over her fear and had a blast. I love this shot of Carl and Jorja.

I love this picture of Quisha, it just seems so serene.

Carl decided to build a sea turtle in the sand, so I snapped a quick picture before the kids destroyed it.

Cauner asked me to take this picture of the sunset — it was really pretty.

The Birthday Girl in one of her new shirts I got her. :)

Quisha and her friends: Jenna, Haley and Salem

Jayson — everytime I saw Jayson — he was jumping off the diving board :D

Jorja — she loved dancing in the water

Cauner loved this slide — he just kept going on it - so I had to get him splashing into the water.

I am so excited right now. Back in May I was cruising the boards at Serendipity and this gal posted that her friend was having a design team call (DT call). Well she wasn’t able to post the link publically, but I sent her a private message asking about the site. She gave me the link and I checked it out. I read the DT application and thought I’d apply. Well to be honest, I didn’t think anything about it. I had never heard of this site and so I wasn’t even thinking that I’d get picked. Well surprise, surprise. Fast forward almost two months later I get this e-mail:

Subject: Congratulations - You made STM TDT!

Okay I was really confused — I made what?? Then I opened the e-mail and I read this:

Thank you for your talented submissions!
We believe as a staff, that the 4 of you have much to offer.
Announcements will be made Monday, July 7th about the new staff members.
Our gallery, boards, and challenges will be updated at that time.
New TDT Contracts will be emailed out to each of you outlining responsibilities and compensation.
Please contact me if you have any questions, again- Congratulations!

Lynette Daniel

Okay, so now I am still utterly confused. So I quickly skimmed my sent files and discovered when I applied to this site called Scrap That Moment (STM) — I am so stoked. I completely spaced this off and now I get to scrap with some awesome goodies from this really awesome looking site. Here is my name in lights. :D

The even neater thing is the owner of this site is a Christian, I was reading one of her blog entries last night and it was just really encouraging, so now I am even more excited to work with this site. Thanks for letting me toot my own horn for a second. :D

Freedom…what does it mean to me? With the 4th of July now a fond memory, I have time to sit back and reflect on what freedom really means to me. In fact that was the message preached this morning at church. Galatians 5:1 “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”

I have freedom in Jesus, because He set me free from the bondage of sin. One of the definitions of freedom is liberty of the person from slavery, detention, or oppression. Before I was a believer, I never would have called myself a slave to sin. It wasn’t anything I thought about. Sin comes naturally to us and yet it enslaves us our whole life. As with any freedom we have, it comes at a cost. Many men and women have given their lives so that we can reap the benefits of being free. The same can be said for my Lord and Savior, it cost Him His life to release me from sin. I am so thankful that I do have the freedom I have today. I am able to worship freely without fear of being persecuted or put in prison. I have freedom to voice my opinion and disagree with those who are put in charge of this country. I have the freedom to elect individuals who can make a difference. I try very hard not to take those freedoms for granted and I hope that I can help my children to understand the freedoms they have too.

Speaking of children, we spent time at Roy’s again. We grilled hotdogs and hamburgers. Shot off our own fireworks and then waited for dark to watch the fireworks display. So here are some pictures from Friday.

Quisha lighting some firecrackers

Jayson was having a blast with the smokeballs

Cauner and Carl lighting fountains

Jorja was content to sit back and watch the festivities

I taped the finale of the fireworks display — hope you enjoy it. :D

Carl said I could spend a little extra money and get this:

I’ve been wanting the Scor-Pal for awhile now, but this comes with the bag, an extra tool, and some double sided tape. I can’t wait to get it now. :woot:

I’m gonna party like a blog star this month with Serendipity Scrapbooks. Ellen is hosting a blog party for the month of July and I am hoping to play along as much as possible. I really need to blog more and I love this challenge. So….
